Less is more ... rather than overwhelming you with volumes of travel tips, here is a specific list of exclusive recommendations with Mr & Mrs Crystal's stamp of approval.

Factory Lounge & Club

Factory is a club that will not burst your eardrums as it embraces a low-key, low decibel lounge atmosphere. This fashionable nightclub on Avenue Paris has local and Parisian DJ’s spinning the decks with style. Factory is certainly not a large venue but its lounge vibe makes it feel like a bar rather than a club.

Piper Heidsiecke

Not your standard bar prototype but, when in Reims, a tour of Piper Heidsiecke culminates in a tasting of the champagne at the Piper Heidsiecke bar. The underground cellar tour takes visitors 100 feet below ground and is followed by a ride in a private electric buggy through century-old cellars, with informative commentary. Eventually you will arrive at an opulent champagne bar where you will be treated to various glasses of Piper Heidsiecke. This daytime “bar” experience is a must-do.

what we think

Few other words are so synonymous with celebration and merriment. The city of Reims is mostly about the “bubbly” and tours of the century-old chalk underground cellars of the champagne houses are a must for the hedonist traveller. They range in style from old-world charm to the Disneyland-esque experience of dodgem cars taking visitors on a ride through ancient subterranean cellars. Satisfied your quench for thirst at the champagne houses? There are many other sparkling experiences in this region including the 13th century stained-glass cathedral in Reims and inspiring drives through the Epernay countryside. The French region that gives us the world’s most imitated and luxurious bubbly is about 2 hours’ drive east of Paris, and it makes a fascinating detour for the hedonist traveller
