Less is more ... rather than overwhelming you with volumes of travel tips, here is a specific list of exclusive recommendations with Mr & Mrs Crystal's stamp of approval.

Cavalli Café

Is there anything more synonymous with Florence than Roberto Cavalli? The wild Cavalli Café next door to the flagship store is a welcome addition to the ever-expanding brand. When you tire of shopping, put your sunglasses back on and pop next door for some mouth-watering cakes and pastries. This is a small café version of a catwalk as the glammed-up crowd perch on leopard-skin ottomans and sip cocktails at any time of the day.

Dolce Vita

It’s understandable to feel like you are truly experiencing Florence when you sit by the River Arno on the steps of the Uffizi. But do yourself a favour and head across the river for some true Firenze flair. Immerse yourself in the local scene at Dolce Vita where you may find yourself being serenaded by local musicians playing anything from contemporary music to jazz, or cultured by in-house exhibitions. The tables on the piazza are best for people watching, which is hard not to enjoy when the subjects are trendy Florentines. Designer sunglasses, short Prada skirts or groomed pretty young things on vespas … bellisimo!

In summer everybody in Florence flocks to this hip and trendy bar that overlooks Lungarno Corsini and offers a beautiful view of the sunset on the Arno river. The outdoor decking remains the attraction especially on Sunday evenings when it gets so crowded inside that the DJ plays outside. You may need to wait for a table outside, but the people watching is so enjoyable that you’ll most likely keep your designer sunglasses on and soak up the scene.
