What’s not to love about the Continentale? It is effortlessly stylish and uber trendy, but manages to maintain a warm and homely ambience. It is located only footsteps from the River Arno and the Ponte Vecchio, and most of the hotel’s rooms and suites (particularly room 503) boast incomparable views onto the River Arno and beyond to the Florentine hills. The rooftop terrace is another fabulous feature, serving aperitifs and refreshing cocktails to hotel guests and the public. Like all Lungarno hotels, the rooms are spacious and luxurious (expect white-on-white, four poster beds and organza curtains), the concierge is a wealth of spot-on information, and in true Ferragamo style, the décor is classy with a bit of quirky (think elevators fitted with sofas and bedside tables with clocks as tabletops). Just like describing Florence, the Continentale is romantic, classy and memorable.

Gallery Art Hotel

Gallery Art Hotel is one of the original designer hotels in Florence. Its chic luxury theme caters to a trendy crowd with euros to spend. The pin-striped guest rooms are stylish, cosy and luxurious. Set on a tiny square just steps from the Ponte Vecchio, the hotel is true to its name as art takes centre stage – the lobby doubles as an art gallery of contemporary painters and photographers. The artsy concept even moves to the adjoining hip Fusion Bar Shozan Gallery where fusion food is as arty as it is tasty.

Savoy is a five-star splurge and is worth every euro cent.

Within wonderfully understated surroundings, it demonstrates how style, luxury, personal service and intimacy are perfectly balanced, making guests feel like they are in a private townhouse rather than a hotel. what we think

Could there be anything more indulgent than a stroll over the Ponte Vecchio, browsing some of the world’s finest jewellery? A wander down via Tornabouni overflowing with Italy’s most famous designers comes in at a close second. Perhaps you prefer sipping a glass of Chianti Classico in a Santa Croce wine cellar or savouring a mouthful of tantalising gelato gazing over the River Arno? Florence has it all and so much more. The grandeur of the Duomo is breathtaking, the galleries house some of the world’s most famous artwork and the cafés’ baristas serve only the most perfect espressos. Located near the heart of Tuscany, the options for winery tours and cooking courses are endless, and all easily discoverable as a day trip from Florence.
